Our Mission:
Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia brings communities together to help families build strength, stability, and independence through affordable home ownership.
The ReStore is a retail store that accepts and resells new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials and home décor items. Proceeds from the ReStore help fund Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia.
Purpose:
The ReStore Manager leads (employees and volunteers) and is responsible for the overall operations of the ReStore. This person will establish the daily, weekly, monthly and annual priorities for the ReStore to achieve the budget as set out by the CEO and Director of ReStore and Facilities.
Critical to success, you will provide a culture where health and safety, loss prevention, customer service and employee/volunteer and donor experience are always of the highest priority.
The ReStore Manager must understand our mission and ensure everything we do aligns with and supports the mission.
Responsibilities:
- Creates a positive, engaging, and welcoming environment for our employees, volunteers, donors, and customers
- Drives a high standard of excellence by creating an elevated level of operational standards around cleanliness, marketing, merchandising and customer engagement
- Works closely with the Director of ReStore and Facilities to establish the key performance indicators for the business
- Provides quarterly feedback reports to all employees to ensure we have a stable and solid succession plan for the business
- Is passionate about our volunteers and stays on top of their ongoing experience
- Leads by example and is a hands‑on leader who likes to be creative and entrepreneurial when it comes to driving results
Qualifications:
- Previous work experience in a retail environment in a leadership position is required; however, if you do not have leadership experience and are willing to learn, do not rule yourself out!
- Knowledge of budgets and how daily behaviours impact results
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently and part of a team and is an expert communicator who knows how to inspire people to want to achieve more
- Class 5 driver’s license
- A criminal background and child abuse registry check is required
