Facilities and Engineering is accountable for effective and timely maintenance and custodial services that promote commitment to the care and preservation of campus facilities, a safe work environment, and effective risk management. Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, as the Building Services Lead, you will conduct all duties related to building services, work with facilities support staff, and perform general maintenance and cleaning duties.
You will demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining an environmentally sustainable workplace in all aspects of your position, including waste management, energy efficiency, and conservation.

Work under the direction of the Facilities Manager, conduct all duties related to building services, and work with facilities support staff in performing general maintenance and cleaning duties.
Qualifications- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a high school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED) or willingness to attain Grade 12 or GED within your probationary period and Building Environment Systems (BES) Level 1 or equivalent. You have a Forklift Operators Certificate or are willing to obtain this certification within your probationary period. A Building Trade Certification would be considered an asset.
- Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations would be considered an asset.
- You have a minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a facilities management department with an emphasis on the management and supervision of custodial, maintenance, general building trades and shipping and receiving functions.
- Experience aiding with an HVAC trade would be considered an asset.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, Megamation and building automated systems software.
- You have demonstrated experience providing general and preventative maintenance duties.
- Possession of a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License is a bona fide relevant occupational requirement for this position.
