Position: Structural Steel Detailer / Drafter
Summary

Drafting technologists and technicians prepare engineering designs, drawings and related technical information, such as building information models (BIM), in multidisciplinary engineering teams or in support of engineers, architects or industrial designers, or they may work independently. They are employed by consulting and construction companies, utility, resource and manufacturing companies, all levels of government and by a wide range of other establishments
At Cherubini, detailing work is primarily carried out using Tekla Structures. Preparation of deliverables will also require the use of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office products.
Main duties
Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other dataCreate building information models (BIM), using computer software, to provide digital representations of physical and functional aspects of buildings and other engineering projectsOperate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstationsDevelop and prepare design sketchesComplete documentation packages and produce drawing setsCheck and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design dataWrite technical reportsPrepare contracts and tender documentsPrepare construction specifications, costs and material estimatesSupervise and train other technologists, technicians and drafters.Develop and prepare engineering drawings, plans, diagrams or layouts from sketchesOperate computer-assisted drafting equipment or a conventional drafting station.Requirements
Minimum 5 years experience in a detailing/drafting environment using 3D modelling software.Minimum 5 years of experience specifically with Tekla Structures.Minimum 5 years of experience supporting mechanical products and assemblies in a fast-paced environment.The ability to collaborate internally in order to develop manufacturing documents effectively.Ability to create preliminary designs or conceptualization of design.Ability to create freehand sketches.Ability to create presentation drawings with perspectives using Tekla Structures and/or AutoCAD.The ability to produce succinct reports/presentations to communicate status of assigned projects/tasks.Sound technical background (hands-on) with logical deductive reasoning approachInterest in developing technical skills through both internal and external training.Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
