Aplin has partnered with a leader in the defense industry to hire an Electrical/Electronic Technologist to join their growing team in Dartmouth, NS. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative, mission‑critical projects in a collaborative and high‑performance engineering environment.
Please note: Candidates must be eligible to obtain the appropriate security clearance, as required by the nature of the defense programs being delivered.
As an Electrical/Electronic Technologist, you will support the development and integration of electrical and electronic systems throughout the hardware development lifecycle. This includes everything from design and documentation to testing, installation, and maintenance. You’ll work closely with engineers and cross‑functional teams to ensure projects meet technical, regulatory, and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Assist in the design, development, and testing of electrical systems and components
- Prepare and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Perform maintenance and calibration of electrical equipment
- Document project progress and prepare technical reports and presentations
- Support system installation and commissioning activities
- Stay informed of industry advancements in electrical engineering technology
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related discipline
- Experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a hands‑on or field‑support role
- Proficiency with CAD software and other relevant engineering tools
- Solid knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations
- IPC J-STD-001 soldering certification is preferred
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills
- Effective communicator with the ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites when needed
- Eligibility to work with Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR-controlled articles
- Must be capable of obtaining a NATO Reliability and Secret security clearance
