Neonatal Sister​/Charge Nurse

Do you want to be part of an exciting and dynamic Neonatal Team? We are seeking enthusiastic, self-motivating and forward-thinking experienced Neonatal nurses for our Special Care Baby Unit. We currently have 22 cots (3 HDU, 4 Transitional care). We have a supportive Neonatal Matron and a team of Band 7 Senior Sisters including PDN's, a Research nurse and an Infant Feeding Lead.

We are part of a large Neonatal workforce that includes Neonatal Outreach, Neonatal/Paediatric Consultants and AHPs.

We are seeking experienced Neonatal nurses to increase our QIS staffing. We have had excellent feedback from GIRFT and PEER review. We have also been awarded Silver Bliss accreditation and are working towards BFI status.

The post holder is responsible for coordinating the evidence-based assessment of care needs, and carrying out these tasks. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without supervision, and to coordinate training, supervision and mentorship of qualified and unqualified staff, under the guidance of the Senior Sister/Charge nurse. As the designated deputy, the post holder is expected to deputise for, manage and coordinate the ward in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge nurse.

• Coordinate evidence-based assessment of care needs and carry out related care tasks.
• Deliver care without supervision where appropriate and coordinate training, supervision and mentorship of staff.
• Deputise for and coordinate ward management in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge nurse, as designated deputy.

• The ideal applicant will have already achieved neonatal QIS.
• We also welcome applications from B5 nurses with relevant paediatric/neonatal experience who would undertake a training programme, including Neonatal QIS qualification leading to Band 6.
