The Radiology Directorate has an extensive range of modalities including CT, MRI, breast imaging, nuclear medicine, interventional and cardiac angiography, general and fluoroscopic radiography, with ultrasound currently performed across two sites, Darent Valley Hospital and Queen Marys Hospital. From spring 2025 an ultrasound service will also be provided at the newly commissioned Livingstone Community Diagnostic Centre, Dartford.
We are looking for HCPC registered or equivalent, highly motivated professionals, with good leadership skills and commitment to ongoing service improvement and development to join our friendly but forward thinking department. Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated advanced practice sonographers prepared to work flexibly within the department and cross site in order to deliver a range of examinations.
Main duties of the jobAs a highly trained and experienced sonographer you will be expected to work autonomously within a busy ultrasound department performing a wide range of examinations and to work as part of the ultrasound team to deliver the ultrasound service over 7days across multiple sites.
You must possess a Diploma in medical ultrasound. Vascular and MSK training would be an advantage.
Applications are also invited from sonographers who hold the Post Graduate Certificate in Ultrasound for Obs/gynae, Gen Med or MSK. Post Graduate training would be positively encouraged and supported. Nuchal accreditation is desirable.
Regular CPD sessions are allocated.
The department offers extended day working and rotational Saturdays and Sundays with time off in lieu as part of core hours.
Working days and or shift patterns will be agreed by the line manager to meet the needs of the service and part time hours would be considered.

Person Specification Qualifications- Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc in Radiography or equivilent
- Post Graduate Certificate in Obs & Gynae or Post Graduate Certificate in General Medical Or Post Graduate Certificate Vascular Or Diploma in Ultrasound/DMU
- HCPC or equivalent Registration
- NT trained/accredited
- Post qualification experience in an NHS setting
- Management and supervisory skills.
- Good counselling skills.
- Teaching and training skills.
