Role Overview

The Management Accountant will lead the transactional finance operations within the subsidiary, ensuring the efficient, accurate and timely processing of financial transactions including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), cash postings and expense management. This role is pivotal in maintaining high-quality financial records, supporting system and process improvements, and enhancing cashflow visibility and control. The Management Accountant will manage a small team and work collaboratively with wider finance and commercial stakeholders to drive operational excellence and strong working capital management.

Key Responsibilities Transactional Finance Leadership
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of AP, AR, bank reconciliations and employee expense processing.
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of financial transactions and maintenance of ledgers, including Fixed Assets and Intercompany.
  • Monitor and manage aged debtors and creditors to support cashflow and working capital targets.
  • Lead month-end close activities related to transactional finance, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and compliance with financial policies and procedures. Prepare and submit ONS, VAT and CIS returns.
Team Management & Development
  • Manage and develop a small transactional finance team, providing coaching, support and performance management.
  • Allocate tasks effectively and ensure team KPIs are met.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Identify and implement improvements to finance systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with IT and Group Finance on system upgrades, automation initiatives and data integrity.
  • Support integration of new tools and technologies to streamline transactional workflows.
Cashflow & Working Capital Support
  • Provide regular reporting and analysis on cashflow, working capital and transactional metrics.
  • Work closely with the Finance Business Partner and Commercial teams to forecast and manage cash requirements.
  • Support initiatives to improve debtor collection and supplier payment strategies.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on transactional finance matters.
  • Liaise with auditors, banks, customers and suppliers as required.
  • Support wider finance team with reporting, budgeting and compliance activities.
Scope of Role
  • Responsible for all transactional finance activities within the subsidiary.
  • Comfortable working to deadlines and handling high volumes of data with accuracy.
  • Manages a small team.
  • Interfaces with Group Finance, Commercial, Operations and external stakeholders.
  • May be involved in system implementations or finance transformation projects.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA) or qualified (AAT) accountant or equivalent experience. Proven experience in managing transactional finance operations.
  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, CIS, cash management and expense processes.
  • Experience with finance systems (e.g. SAGE, SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, or similar). Excellent Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Experience in facilities management or service-based industries is desirable.
