Smoke Control Maintenance Engineer
Location:
M25 Corridor & Home Counties
Salary:
Up to £50,000 basic + overtime + call-out (OTE £55,000 – £60,000)
I’m currently working with a well-established and growing specialist within the fire and life safety sector who are looking to appoint an experienced Smoke Control Maintenance Engineer to join their expanding team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business that has built a strong reputation within the industry for delivering high-quality smoke control and life safety solutions. The company continues to experience steady growth and is investing heavily in its people, training, and long-term development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and servicing of smoke control systems across commercial buildings throughout the M25 and surrounding Home Counties. The role will involve working on both natural and mechanical smoke ventilation systems, ensuring systems are fully operational and compliant.
My client places a strong emphasis on team culture and long-term careers, with many employees having been with the business for several years. They are also committed to developing their engineers, offering structured training and access to a dedicated in-house training facility.
Ideally, candidates will have at least two years’ experience working with smoke control systems, including both natural and mechanical systems. Engineers should be comfortable carrying out maintenance, fault finding, and ensuring systems remain compliant with relevant safety standards. Due to the travel requirements of the role, candidates should be located within reasonable access of the M25.
The position offers a competitive salary of up to £50,000, with strong earning potential through overtime and call-out work. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 7pm and on Saturdays, and double time on Sundays, alongside a call-out standby fee and additional call-out payments. On average, engineers in the team achieve a total package of £55,000–£60,000 per year.
In addition to salary and overtime, the package includes company vehicle, pension scheme, private healthcare support, and all equipment required to carry out the role effectively.
The interview process will begin with an initial Teams call, followed by a face-to-face meeting with senior leadership. Successful candidates will then go through a structured onboarding process, including health and safety training and time spent working alongside an experienced engineer before going out independently.
If you’re an experienced Smoke Control Engineer looking to join a stable, growing company that values its people and invests in their development, I’d be very interested in speaking with you
