Job Overview

Consultant Physician in Stroke Medicine – Permanent – Full time – 10 PA's. Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust is delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious dynamic individual to join our committed and well integrated multidisciplinary team, providing high standard care to the local community as a Consultant Physician in Stroke Medicine.

Main duties of the job:
Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust hosts one of the 2 acute stroke centres in West Kent. Darent Valley Hospital has a 40 bed combined stroke unit. The Hyper-acute stroke unit (HASU) is located on Spruce ward with 14 monitored beds. There are 26 additional beds on both Spruce & Ebony ward which form the acute stroke unit (ASU). DVH opened its combined HASU & ASU on 27 September 2024.

We have introduced a new model of working for stroke consultants from January 2025 – a dedicated stroke consultant to cover front door referrals along with another covering HASU. They will also be expected to do a ward round on the HASU on a 1:7 rotation between  on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend ward rounds are separate from the weekend regional OOH weekend rota to make it less onerous.
