Speech and Language Pathologist; Furqaan Academy Exceptional Children

Position Title: Speech and Language Pathologist (Furqaan Academy for Exceptional Children)

To aid students in the correction or elimination of speech, hearing, and/or language difficulties in order to further their total development.

• Screen Pre-K – 8 for speech and language problems using an acceptable and proven method of testing.
• To organize a program that addresses local school speech-language goals.
• Work cooperatively with school personnel to accomplish the goals and objectives of the local education agency.
• Coordinate speech-language services with student services provided by other school personnel.
• Maintain records of speech-language programs and prepare periodic reports as required.
• Adhere to established rules, regulations, laws, and appropriate ethical standards.
• Conduct speech and language screenings.
• Administer formal and informal (ongoing and curriculum-based) assessments.
• Obtain additional diagnostic information from appropriate persons and available records for speech-language purposes.
• Analyze and interpret information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services.
• Provide appropriate information on an informal or formal basis regarding speech and language programs.
• Supervise undergraduate interns, paraprofessionals, volunteers, and other professionals as appropriate.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of communicative disorders.
• Collaborate/consult with classroom teachers in the management of speech-language disorders.
• Plan evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students and groups of students.
• Use evidence-based methods and techniques appropriate to stated objectives
• Manage the facilities, materials, and equipment, including assistive technology necessary to deliver services.
• Adjust intervention strategies based on student performance.
• Promote effective interpersonal relations with students.
• Complete procedural documentation appropriately.
• Demonstrate knowledge and use of statewide testing procedures.
• Develop appropriate IEPs based on students’ strengths and needs.
• Engages in continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech-language education.
• Provide consultation to parents, teachers and other appropriate school personnel.
• Participate in the MTSS/RtI and related work with the curriculum-based team/problem-solving team to identify classroom and individual supports for students.
• Complete appropriate Medicaid billing for eligible students.

• Masters in Speech-Language Pathology and Communication Disorders required
• Standard Professional Educator License, with Speech Pathologist endorsement to meet state regulations, and other qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
• ASHA Certified required
• Preferred, one (1) year experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills

• This job requires frequent walking, standing, carrying, and lifting of various pounds (25lbs) in the work-place and throughout facility spaces.
