Position SummaryMaintain the highest safety standards possible and oversee all yard operations, including personnel management, equipment, facility upkeep, customer service, inventory control, and scheduling. Provide exceptional customer service in a busy lumber yard environment, promote a positive teamwork culture, and mentor employees.

- Train and mentor employees on safety protocols.
- Lead by example and address safety issues.

- Research and resolve customer complaints or conflicts.
- Know product features, storage, and handling procedures.
- Share knowledge with co‑workers.
- Maintain a neat, clean yard and rotate stock.
- Manage shrink, check invoices, returns, and transfers.
- Prepare for and unload incoming product efficiently.
- Stage loads for outgoing deliveries, ensure product quality, and wrap loads.
- Use yard equipment safely and communicate issues.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Develop skills through educational programs.
- Maintain teamwork with yard, drivers, and sales staff.
- Promote a positive, helpful attitude.
- Provide feedback and mentoring to yard employees.
- Hold daily morning meetings with the Yard Operations Manager.
- Train and educate employees on all aspects of yard operations.
- Conduct performance reviews annually and provide ongoing feedback.
- Maintain appropriate staffing and schedule.
- Document disciplinary action when necessary.
- Adaptability, attendance, dependability and ethics.
- Job knowledge, full understanding of DDMS.
- Organization skills and productivity.
- Professional image, teamwork, and collaboration.
- Math skills and ability to perform interviews.
- Willingness to perform other duties as required.
