Prep Cook - Institute Advanced Learning and Research
Overview
Great events start long before the first guest arrives—and that’s where you come in. The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research is seeking a Prep Cook who loves organization, precision, and setting the kitchen team up for success. If you take pride in clean cuts, labeled containers, and a well-stocked kitchen, this role is for you.
Compensation: $12.00 - $14.00 per hr depending on experience.
Responsibilities- Preparing food items according to production needs and quality standards
- Completing prep lists without overproduction or unnecessary waste
- Properly labeling, dating, rotating, and storing all food items
- Checking pars, completing freezer pulls, and assisting with line setup
- Returning unused food items to designated storage areas, covered and dated
- Receiving, unpacking, and organizing deliveries from food vendors
- Assisting with food cost control through waste reduction and proper usage
- Preparing and making ice cream for the Sweet Rose Ice Cream Shop
- Maintaining inventory levels and communicating shortages to leadership
- Assisting with monthly food audits alongside the Kitchen Manager
- Breaking down boxes, removing trash, and maintaining a clean work area
- Learning and working with the PMS system for scheduled shifts
- Supporting the kitchen team and completing additional tasks as assigned
- Must be 18 years or older
- Minimum 2 years of kitchen or restaurant experience
- Strong knife skills and attention to detail
- Professional, reliable, and organized
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-driven environment
- Reliable transportation required
- High school diploma or GED required
