American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Danville, Virginia.

• Located on the 6A Telemetry/PCU floor of a 250-bed academic community hospital
• Progressive Care/Stepdown unit with 36 beds serving patients of all ages
• Common diagnoses include CHF, AMI, respiratory failure, renal failure, DKA, and AFib
• Patient ratios are 1:4 for PCU and 1:6 for Telemetry; blended assignments are staffed at 1:5
• Night shift schedule: 7P–7A
• Every other weekend required
• On-call required as needed
• Floating to Med/Surg and ICU may be required, including travel within a 25-mile radius of the facility
• EMR:
  Meditech
• 13-week contract
• Care for a mixed PCU and telemetry patient population with complex cardiac and medical diagnoses
• Facility is the region's only designated Chest Pain Center and Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center, accredited by the ACC and ACS Commission on Cancer
• Any color scrubs are acceptable; casual wear is not permitted
• Orientation is held bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Consent to random on-site drug screening and completion of a Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form are required
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
• Candidates who are currently employed full-time elsewhere are not eligible

• Active RN license valid in Virginia (VA state license or compact) required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, HWC, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — all must be in hand prior to start; RQI certifications are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• PCU and telemetry experience required
• 2+ years of Med/Surg experience preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
• Social Security number required for consideration
