Job Duties

This is an entry‑level Registered Nurse (RN) position for new graduates or RN with minimal experience. Responsibilities include assessing patients’ physical and mental condition, collaborating with team members to identify needs, and designing individualized person‑centered plans of care to enhance psychosocial recovery for individuals with mental illnesses and dual disorders. RNs will safely implement seclusion/ restraints, provide 12‑hour night shifts (7:00 pm–7:30 am) on a non‑rotating Pitman schedule, and may work overtime and rotating weekends.

New employees must complete a four‑week New Employee Orientation with scheduled day and night shifts.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an RN program.
  • Current, in‑good‑standing RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or eligible license; multi‑state compact endorsed).
  • Active driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric nursing and theories of nursing practice.
  • Experience with psychosocial rehabilitation/recovery models.
  • Completion of BLS, Therapeutic Options (TO), and other required on‑site training upon employment.
  • Effective interpersonal communication, team‑focused care, professional approach.
  • Ability to plan, implement, evaluate care utilizing pharmacology, psychiatric/physical disorders, and cultural considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate, supervise, and evaluate nursing processes.
Additional Considerations
  • Experience as an RN in psychiatric, acute care, long‑term, or correctional settings.
  • Veterans and individuals with national service background.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English.
