Registered Nurse (RN), Wound Care PRN
Schedule:
As needed
- Provide education to patients, and families on the disease process, treatment, diagnostic testing and patient responsibilities involving treatment.
- Perform initial assessment and reassessments with appropriate documentation. Notify MD of any abnormal findings.
- Obtain laboratory samples per policy. (Example: wound cultures).
- Assess wounds and apply ordered dressings per policy. (Example: Una Boots, Combiderm, Aquacel, etc).
- Document all treatments on appropriate forms/computer.
- Coordinate patient schedule to provide optimal care in a productive timeframe.
- Promotes a positive image throughout the organization and community by providing cooperative and courteous service to all customers, patients, families, visitors, physicians and associates.
- Interpret lab data and notify MD, pharmacy or other departments for any needed changes in treatment modality.
- Complete department charges, supply charges and revisit data accurately and promptly to ensure compliance.
- Participates in quality improvement activities.
- Coordinate and assist with in‑patient wound care as needed.
- Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
- Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
- Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
- Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
- Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

Applicants should have a current VA RN license
Bachelors Preferred But Not Required
Two (2) years recent experience with Medical/Surgical
Wound Care Experience Preferred
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support
- Experience in acute care hospital, preferred
- American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months of hire
