Description
This position requires eligibility to access controlled unclassified information (CUI) and export controlled data, and candidates must meet applicable federal requirements, including U.S. person status where required. This role is onsite in Danville, VA.

The NAVSEA Additive Manufacturing Technician plays a critical support role in delivering an accelerated short term training program that equips Department of War personnel with hands on additive manufacturing skills. This position ensures instructors and students have the tools, materials, and lab environment needed to successfully execute high impact technical training. By supporting instruction and maintaining lab readiness, this role directly contributes to program quality, safety, and learner success.
WhatYou Will Do
The technician sets up equipment, materials, and activities to support classroom and hands on instruction. The role assists the Lead Instructor during lectures and lab exercises. Responsibilities include maintaining consumables inventory and ensuring materials are available for training activities, performing preventative maintenance on additive manufacturing and CNC equipment and tooling, and supporting lab organization, safety, and general instructional needs as required.
QualificationsYour Knowledge and Expertise
- High school diploma is required
- Technical degree in manufacturing or equivalent experience is preferred, along with significant related occupational experience
- DoW manufacturing experience is preferred
- Experience with CNC machine setup, programming, and operation is required, with Haas experience preferred
- Experience using CAD and CAM software is required, with Mastercam preferred
- Experience with slicing software is required, with Eiger preferred
- Hands on experience with additive manufacturing processes is required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population is required
- Strong problem solving skills are required
- Proactive and team oriented mindset is required
- Current manufacturing related technology skills are required
- Willingness to learn emerging technologies is required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
Physical Requirements
The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use basic hand tools, move frequently throughout a training lab environment, and use stepladders.
