Plant Assistant – Stretch (Cast Line Assistant)

Position DescriptionTitle: Cast Line Assistant
Department: Various
Immediate Supervisor: Plant Supervisory Staff
Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
- Responsible for the safe, controlled start‑up and operation of the cast line equipment including starting the machine, engaging the feed, observing the operation, and assisting with the change‑over process.
- Inspects and measures completed pieces to verify conformity to customer production standards.
- Monitors and adjusts controls to ensure product complies with production standards.
- Coaches and mentors assistants and helpers by providing clear and precise instructions, if assigned.
- Maintains equipment through completion of assigned preventive maintenance tasks and minor repair techniques as required.
- Records quality and production metrics via written communication methods and within time deadlines, as necessary.
- Performs all work in a safety‑first mentality and with utilization of IPS lean manufacturing skills.
- Related tasks as requested by supervisor.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- 2+ Years in a Manufacturing Environment experience required.
- Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
- General computer knowledge and experience handling paperwork.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time required.
- Ability to work in a space‑limited work area on a continuous basis.
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis.
- Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role following recommended practices, with an emphasis on safety and injury prevention.
