Overview
IT Consultant / IT Advisor
The IT Consultant will provide advisory and technical consulting services to support the City of Danville’s Information Technology department. The consultant will assist with technology planning, system improvements, governance practices, and operational assessments to ensure efficient and effective IT operations across city departments.
Responsibilities- Provide IT consulting and advisory services to support the City’s technology initiatives and operational improvements.
- Evaluate existing IT systems, processes, and infrastructure and recommend technology improvements and best practices.
- Support IT project planning and execution, including scope definition, risk assessment, and stakeholder coordination.
- Conduct business process reviews and document current and future-state workflows related to IT systems.
- Assist in developing technology governance frameworks, policies, and operational standards.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency within IT operations.
- Support change management initiatives for new technology implementations.
- Provide guidance on IT strategy, modernization initiatives, and system integration efforts.
- Prepare reports, recommendations, and documentation to support IT decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in IT consulting, IT operations, or technology advisory roles.
- Experience working with public sector or municipal IT environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- IT governance frameworks
