PositionSummary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will perform basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including obtaining and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, as directed.
Responsibilities- Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
- Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to the nursing staff.
- Maintains patient rooms and common areas in a stocked, clean, and orderly condition.
- Assists patients with toilet facilities, including bedpans.
- Assists with ambulation using walkers or wheelchairs when applicable.
- Assists patients with feeding when needed.
- Assists with fluid intake and measures and records intake and output as directed.
- Repositions patients as appropriate.
- Checks diapers and underpads with each position change and provides linen changes as needed.
- Utilizes a proper patient identification system (two patient identifiers).
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR or BLS Provider required.
- Registration on the Virginia Board of Nursing Aide Registry is required.
- One (1) year as a CNA, Respiratory Care Assistant, Rehab Tech, Certified Medical Assistant, EKG Tech, EMT, Phlebotomist, or equivalent clinical experience preferred.
