Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Clinic PRN

OverviewSovah Danville, part of Lifepoint Health, is a 250‑bed academic community hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive wound care and advanced primary stroke care. As an RN, you will provide compassionate, evidence‑based care to patients, support wound healing, and collaborate across disciplines to promote community health.
Responsibilities- Provide education to patients and families on disease process, treatment, diagnostic testing and patient responsibilities.
- Perform initial assessments and reassessments with appropriate documentation; notify MD of abnormal findings.
- Obtain laboratory samples per policy (e.g., wound cultures).
- Assess wounds and apply ordered dressings per policy (e.g., Una Boots, Combiderm, Aquacel).
- Document treatments on appropriate forms/computer.
- Coordinate patient schedule to provide optimal care.
- Promote positive image throughout the organization and community by providing courteous service to all customers.
- Interpret lab data and notify MD, pharmacy or other departments for treatment changes.
- Complete department and supply charges accurately and promptly for compliance.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Coordinate and assist with inpatient wound care as needed.
- Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
- Initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
- Provide care appropriate to patient condition and age.
- Perform timely documentation relating to medical necessity in the record.
- Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
- Perform timely and accurate QI assessments.
Applicants should have a current VA RN license.
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
- Two (2) years recent experience with medical/surgical settings.
- Wound care experience preferred.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
- Experience in acute care hospital preferred.
- American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months of hire.
