Position: Peer Recovery Specialist (4304)

Peer Recovery Specialist (4304) – Danville Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce

Responsibilities

Provides person-centered wellness focused support to engage individuals in treatment and promote use of the individual’s wellness recovery plan; shares firsthand lived experiences with recovery to inspire hope, increase engagement in treatment and the communities, and support individuals in articulating personal goals for wellness, recovery resiliency, and self-advocacy; has knowledge of signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance disorders and the ability to assist the individual to address symptoms using their wellness plan;

provides peer support, serves as an advocate, carries out wellness rehabilitation, and supports functions; promotes recovery from substance use and/or mental health conditions; promotes employment, education, health, and community integration; serves as a role model for personal recovery; services include outreach, monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, crisis intervention, consultation to families, development of functional skills and appropriate behavior, transportation to implement the service plan, and similar functions;

services may be rendered in the group setting or on an individual basis; participates in special events, conferences, workshops, and training within the mental health system and community; works closely with staff, hospitals, and other community agencies and organizations; documents all contacts and activities in the individuals’ records.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be, or previously have been, a recipient of mental health or substance use disorder services and should be well along in the recovery process
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Fingerprints, state and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry (CANIS) report will be required upon request. Our Agency maintains a drug-free workplace.

Annual Salary Range
: $37,832 - $66,206

3% Increase for Registered Peer Recovery Specialist
