How You Will Help The Team

We are seeking an ATDM Instructional Specialist to support instructional continuity and student success across our advanced manufacturing training programs.

This role provides on‑shift instructional coverage, student tutoring, and lab support across CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, Metrology, Welding, and Non‑Destructive Testing.

While all five disciplines are supported, student tutoring demand is highest in CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, and Metrology. Candidates should be strongest in one or more of these areas. Working knowledge of Welding and NDT is required to ensure instructional coverage and student support when needed.

This position is ideal for a technically skilled professional who enjoys teaching, coaching adult learners, and working hands on in modern manufacturing labs.

What You Will Do
  • Provide short‑term instructional coverage across CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, Metrology, Welding, and NDT during the assigned shift.
  • Deliver established lesson plans, demonstrations, and lab activities.
  • Provide scheduled tutoring and academic support primarily in CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, and Metrology.
  • Provide secondary tutoring and instructional support in Welding and NDT as needed.
  • Coach students in technical math, blueprint reading, GD & T fundamentals, inspection methods, and process documentation.
  • Support test preparation, remediation, and credential pathways.
  • Assist with lab setup, tool readiness, machine warm‑ups, and basic preventive checks.
  • Uphold safety standards, 5S practices, and lab organization.
  • Assist with test proctoring, credential documentation, and instructional systems including LMS.
  • Collaborate with instructors, department leads, and shift managers to support student progress.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Technical experience in industry or academic settings in CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, or Metrology.
  • Working knowledge or experience in Welding and Non‑Destructive Testing.
  • Ability to support instruction and student learning across all five disciplines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to tutor adult learners.
  • Proficiency in technical math, blueprint reading, and foundational GD & T.
  • Comfort working hands on in lab environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; LMS experience such as Canvas preferred.

Candidates do not need deep mastery in all five areas but must be capable of supporting instruction and students across them.

Preferred Experience
  • CNC and Precision Machining experience such as NIMS credentials, Haas mill or lathe operation, CAD‑CAM exposure, multi‑axis machining, or CMM exposure.
  • Metrology experience including GD & T interpretation, dimensional inspection, or CMM programming and operation.
  • Additive Manufacturing experience with polymer or metal systems, slicing software, build preparation, or post‑processing.
  • Welding experience with GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, or FCAW; AWS certification preferred.
  • Non‑Destructive Testing exposure to VT, MT, PT, UT, RT, or ET methods and inspection workflows.
What Makes This Role Different
  • Direct impact on career‑changing adult learners.
  • Hands on work in state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing labs.
  • Variety in day‑to‑day work without sacrificing technical depth.
  • Mission‑driven environment focused on workforce development and student success.
