Job Summary
Geisinger Medical Center (GMC), the flagship tertiary/qua ternary care hospital for Geisinger, is seeking a part‑time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Hospital Medicine team. This role offers the opportunity to practice high‑acuity inpatient medicine in a collaborative, physician‑led environment with strong subspecialty support. GMC is a Magnet‑designated hospital and the region’s only Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center, providing advanced, patient‑centered care across a broad range of specialties.
The position involves rotating day and night shift schedules.
- Assess and establish a presumptive diagnosis and implement treatment plans for the patient population.
- Make accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record; order and interpret diagnostic testing and consults as appropriate, prescribing appropriate medical therapy utilizing evidence‑based practice.
- Prescribe, adjust or discontinue medications or therapies as appropriate.
- Evaluate and report to the collaborating physician any circumstances or approaches to medical management or test results that present a significant risk to the patient’s health or well‑being.
- Perform procedures within the scope of practice of the physician‑assistant license.
- Communicate with the collaborating physician, patient, PCP and referring staff through telephone or other means of correspondence.
- Instill confidence in the patient acting as their advocate by providing safe, ethical care and health education to the patient and their family in a language that they can understand.
- Interpret and follow policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals and deadlines.

ExperienceCertification(s) and license(s):
Basic Life Support Certification – Default Issuing Body;
Certified Physician Assistant – National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
