Inpatient Nursing Clinical Co-op Student: GMC; high school juniors

The co‑op program is an educational and clinical work experience for high school students. Students will work 1:1 with a preceptor and perform a wide range of patient care tasks under the nursing support scope.

The performance of tasks allows the care team to provide quality care.

• The position will focus on providing patient care within a clinical scope of practice.
• Fulfills designated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care (non-assessment).
• Identifies, observes, and documents the physical needs of the patient according to standards.
• Assists with patient transfer and transport as needed.
• Assists in problem solving, trouble shooting, and taking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Assists in clerical responsibilities as required for task completion.
• Suggests issues for improvement and offer solutions on issues.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. This is a standard job requisition for the Inpatient Nursing Co‑op position for the Central Region (Danville, Shamokin & Bloomsburg).

• A resume is required to move forward with application process.
• High school junior students must apply to this program their junior year to complete the co‑op as a senior during the  academic school year.
• Inpatient Nursing Co‑op students must attend a mandatory 2‑day orientation (dates will be provided to students upon offer). Co‑op hours on the assigned unit will begin in September.
