Job Summary

The Senior Training Specialist is primarily responsible for the design, development, and evaluation of comprehensive training classes and materials that align with Woods Services mission and ensure the preparation of Woods Services and Woods System of Care affiliate employees for their jobs. This role uses evidence-based methodologies to create engaging, accessible, and outcomes-driven training solutions aligned with organizational strategy, compliance requirements, and adult learning principles.

The Senior Training Specialist also conducts and facilitates training programs for all levels of the organization, including affiliate organizations, and supports the implementation and delivery of both certifying and non-certifying courses.

Responsibilities
  • Leads the planning, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of learning and development initiatives at Woods Services and as needed, across the Woods System of Care.
  • Uses established instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to create engaging, learner-centered programs aligned with adult learning theory.
  • Conducts training needs assessments to identify skill gaps, compliance requirements, performance issues, and organizational trends.
  • Assists in the creation of training courses (instructor led, asynchronous, virtual, etc.), microlearning modules, videos, podcasts, job aids, facilitation guides, structured education activities, and participant materials.
  • Collaborates with senior leaders to prioritize training initiatives aligned with strategic goals and organizational values.
  • Partners with internal and external SMEs, consultants, and vendors to ensure quality, accuracy, and relevance of content.
  • Ensures materials are accessible and compliant with ADA requirements, copyright laws, intellectual property standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Integrates multimedia tools and instructional technologies to optimize learner engagement and knowledge retention.
  • Establishes evaluation mechanisms to measure training effectiveness, including assessments, feedback tools, data analysis, and outcome reporting.
  • Conducts training programs and both certifying and non-certifying courses for employees at all levels across Woods Services and affiliate organizations, as directed.
  • Maintains all required instructor certifications and credentials.
  • Assists with the coordination and implementation of new employee orientation programs, including room setup, materials preparation, equipment setup, and monitoring of participant progress and testing.
  • Delivers training across multiple shifts, as assigned.
  • Monitors and evaluates training sessions and instructors to ensure fidelity and quality standards; provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensures timely submission of documentation and maintenance of accurate training records.
  • Stays current with emerging trends in employee training, learning and development, instructional technologies, and best practices.
  • Maintains familiarity with competencies required for quality direct care service throughout all Woods programs.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships across departments and affiliate organizations.
  • Manages multiple concurrent projects while adapting to changing priorities and ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Employee Training & Development or their designee.
