Machine Operator, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

The product portfolio includes undercarriage systems for heavy machinery as well as crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons, chassis products, transmission systems and rotor shafts for the automotive industry.
MajorAreas of Responsibility
- Operate machinery on forge line
- Provide necessary maintenance
- Maintain record of machine downtime and corrective actions
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, update and repair malfunctioning plant equipment as well as plant building repairs within capabilities
- Perform routine mechanical or machining maintenance activities on equipment
- Participate in preventative maintenance program based on OEMs (Original Equipment Manuals) for plant equipment, machinery, and related facilities
- Maintain records of daily PM’s and readings such as emissions, dust collector, amp on blast wheels, and conductivity for water treat system
- Other responsibilities and projects as specified
- Set up and operate press for routine established work
- Select correct tooling for the job task and correctly set up the tools required
- Ensure dies aligned; unclamp and make necessary adjustments
- Monitor 3 robots that accompany the press, especially spray robot that prevents parts from sticking
- Monitor parts as they go through the die to ensure no malfunctions
- Monitor die tonnage
- Maintenance press as necessary
- Report downtime
- Operate panel to control heat and cycle time
- Run Man-mate Machine
- Monitor product in trim press
- Change tooling as necessary
- Industrial Maintenance AAS or equivalent degree
OR
- At least 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance in a manufacturing setting.
- Length of Experience
- Previous experience in manufacturing and metal fabrication preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Background in mechanics, electrical, and hydraulics
- Excellent mechanical skills with a focus on clutch/brake presses or other forming presses (hydraulic/mechanical)
- Knowledge of forging aspects, metal flow, and crankshaft design
- Knowledge of robotics and PLC’s
- Strong understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley/Siemens), robotics (ABB), and electrical control systems
- Knowledge of fabrication
- Manual skills to operate machines, tools and move parts
- Excellent reasoning and problem solving ability
- Competent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools
- Ability to follow step-by-step instructions
- Ability to perform repetitive work
- Ability to cope with change
- Strong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication ability
- Excellent reasoning and problem solving ability
- Ability to operate a variety of maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner
