Overview
The CT Technologist performs computerized axial tomography procedures utilizing various imaging equipment and contrast material. Prepares and administers contrast material based on Carle policies and procedures.
Qualifications- Registered in Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) – Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiography – Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
- Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)
- Education:
Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology;
Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology
- Perform CT procedures and assigned invasive procedures, acquiring and processing patient exams per guidelines and department protocols.
- Perform multiplanar reformats and 3D rendered images independently.
- Review cases with the radiologist as appropriate.
- Review labs and patient history to ensure correct exam.
- Recognize and respond to adverse or allergic reactions.
- Screen patients for pregnancy and perform pregnancy testing when applicable.
- Ensure patient, visitor, and environmental safety; report safety events immediately including near misses.
- Assist in instruction of students and new staff as necessary.
- May perform duties of CT Lead or Imaging Coordinator in absence.
- Meet productivity levels established by department benchmarking.
- Assist other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
- Perform duties of other modalities within the department when licensed.
- Comply with job descriptions of cross‑trained modalities performed; secondary registries not required unless otherwise required by specific compliance, licensure, or accrediting bodies.
- Administer IV contrast syringes, oral or rectal contrasts when appropriate; recognize and respond to reactions.
- Administer IV contrast via existing IV line or by venipuncture and placement of IV line.
- Review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy; review patient history and clinical data for medical necessity; obtain additional information if needed.
- Critique positioning, technical factors, and alignment to meet acceptable imaging quality standards.
- Review patient data for accuracy, quality, and completeness.
- Transfer and verify image data in PACS; provide necessary medical history and information for radiologist interpretation.
- Use the web server/EA viewer and email system to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
- Maintain imaging equipment and workplace environment, keep supply inventories and work area orderly.
- Recognize malfunctions and service needs and report them in a timely manner.

The compensation range for this position is $30.59 per hour – $52.61 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
