YourResponsibilities
Do you get excited about innovative cost-effective initiatives while influencing the buy-in of others? The OPX Engineer is responsible for coordinating major aspects of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities across all processes within manufacturing, and as required by the Head of Production. The primary role is continually focus on selected and approved Lean and Continuous Improvement Initiatives to effectively address and resolve performance and efficiency issues throughout the Production process.
Through this, it drives impact measures throughout the organization. This position requires a strong commitment to safety.
The OPX Engineer serves as an engaged and trusted source in the organization. Success in this role is measured by completing OPX events, managing the IDEAS program, driving SQDC engagement, and implementing lean practices and standards to increase productivity. Key deliverables to ensure success are listed below:
- Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
- To manage the tkDC Danville continuous improvement programs and to actively promote continual improvement in all processes.
- Improve employee satisfaction and communication through the motivation and creation of a high-performance team.
- Implement programs that boost morale and an environment of innovation and excitement.
- To create a Lean environment with a focus on creating a strong culture of continuous improvement.
- Perform value stream mapping activities for all production related processes.
- To be a self-directed, highly motivated individual who can efficiently and effectively implement improvement ideas and solutions.
- To provide options, support, and suggestions to improvement teams.
- To support continuous improvement documentation and reporting, including task lists, reports, benefit summaries and presentations.
- Coordinate and facilitate internal and external continual improvement meetings and otherwise communicate and collaborate with others.
- To regularly communicate continual improvement status to the Management group by the use of charts, presentations and reports.
- To lead cost savings workshops and identify Impact measures on a continuous basis.
- To eliminate 8 forms of waste for Lean Manufacturing.
- To plan and conduct Kaizen workshops as requested.
- To train new and existing employees on Lean techniques, continuous improvement practices and programs.
- To support the 24-hour production operation through flexible work hours.
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree preferred and/or three to five years of demonstrated experience conducting continuous improvement and Lean practices. Continual Improvement and team training experience in a production and manufacturing environment preferred.…
