We seek a nimble, detail-oriented Project Engineer to support the cause in Illinois, working under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager.
Essential Duties
- Plan for assigned divisions/systems.
- Manage the design of water and sewer improvement projects (e.g., tanks, boosters, lift stations, WTP/WWTP projects, regulating vaults) as needed.
- Collaborate with the hydraulic modeling team to evaluate and mitigate system-wide challenges.
- Submit and/or supervise permit applications for selected projects and ensure all required permits are obtained with necessary approvals.
- Coordinate and manage construction projects including bidding, scheduling, cost estimating; enforce contract requirements and perform construction administration on assigned projects.
- Work with consultants to secure easements; negotiate and prepare property easements and oversee preparation of property descriptions, surveying and recording as required.
- Manage project financials (work orders, purchase orders, invoicing, etc.).
- Collaborate with departments statewide: operations, engineering, accounting, customer service.
- Perform due diligence for possible new acquisitions.
- Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
- Selected candidate must be a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois or have the ability to obtain PE license within three years from hire date.
- Two or more years of experience in water and wastewater is preferred.

Skills and Abilities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and other software applications used in the normal course of business.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills; able to communicate effectively with internal customers.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and on multiple projects, adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player able to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-tasking environment.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
- Sedentary work with occasional lifting up to 20 pounds; ability to sit for extended periods.
- Willingness to travel to work sites within Illinois as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
HIREING SALARY RANGE: $81,975.36 - $
