The Laboratory Technician I supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. This full‑time entry‑level position includes benefits and works Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; brief weekend work (approximately one weekend per month) may be required on a rotating schedule. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Danvers, MA are encouraged to apply. Compensation is $20–22 per hour, depending on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Receive and process samples, including accepting deliveries and unloading shipments from delivery trucks.
- Open coolers and inspect shipment contents; check documentation to ensure all samples are accounted for.
- Distribute samples to appropriate departments, store, restock, and shelve as necessary.
- Follow strict safety and quality‑control procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Enter records in the LIMS system and promote the company vision.
- Demonstrate GMP/GLP compliance, perform routine lab tasks, and familiarise with methods and programs.
- Retrieve samples from Sample Control for analysis, prepare samples using standard techniques, perform chemical analysis, calculate data, and record–report results along with any unusual observations to the supervisor.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and comply with Eurofins environmental, health, safety, and quality assurance standards.
- Assist in the use of complex instrumentation such as gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, ICP, and instrument‑specific data systems.
- Work under close supervision using routine and standard methods.
- Aliquot, weigh samples, wash glassware, and wash laboratory equipment.
- Perform microbiology analysis by Idexx methods—including handling and processing samples aseptically, preparing reagents and media, preparing dilutions, recording incubation times, resolving discrepancies, tracking samples, maintaining laboratory paperwork, and stocking supplies.
- Strong organizational and detail‑oriented skills.
- Physical strength to lift and move heavy boxes received by the lab.
- Competence in using LIMS software.
- Reading, writing, and speaking skills in English (professional proficiency required).
- Problem‑solving skills, team participation, and meeting‑management skills.
- Time‑management, organization, and ability to use a calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts.
- Complete work within time and quality constraints and work independently following written or verbal instructions.
- Cooperate and coordinate orally and in writing.
- HS diploma required.
- High‑school chemistry coursework and basic laboratory experience.
- Previous production‑oriented work with awareness of meeting deadlines.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; samples are packed in ice coolers.
