Job Overview
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking caring DOCUMENT for the Direct Care Worker I role in the Merrimack Valley area. Positions are full‑time or part‑time across multiple shifts. This is an open and continuous posting for an entry‑level position that will provide programmatic direct care services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities- Support individuals by helping implement habilitative, behavioral, and recreational programs in accordance with their Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
- Co‑ordinate with supervisors to ensure successful ISP implementation, use of appropriate methods, service coordination, and crisis intervention.
- Assist in activities of daily living such as household maintenance, self‑care, hygiene, food shopping, meal preparation, budgeting, leisure activities, and socialization skill development.
- Attend review meetings with individuals and accompany them to appointments; transport to work, recreational activities, and other engagements as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and nestenible records; preserve individuals’ human rights by complying with applicable laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to build respectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationships with people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Capacity to assist or lift individuals with physical disabilities or limited mobility.
- Aptitude to read, comprehend, and transcribe English.
- Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Must pass the Medication Administration Program (MAP) certification.
- Upon successful completion of a training program, obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
Staff is required to work various shifts, including weekends. Many positions require working every weekend with two days off in the middle of the week. Employees may be asked to perform mandatory overtime and to serve as an EMERGENCY position under the Department’s Emergency Plan. Employees must be able to report to work if the Governor declares a state of emergency.
VaccinationRequirement
The Regulation requires staff to have received COVID‑19 and influenza vaccinations, or to have taken required mitigation measures. Candidates must attest to their vaccination status for both diseases.

Salary$47,798.66 – $60,444.28 per year, depending on experience and education.
