A Day in the LifeAs an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Engineer, you will be supporting Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) and will play a key role in embedding safety into new product development and advanced manufacturing processes. This position offers an opportunity to help design and implement proactive safety systems that protect employees, enable innovation, and support the delivery of life‑saving medical technologies.
You will join the Danvers EHS team and partner closely with AME, Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to ensure safe, compliant, and scalable product and process development. Your work will help shape how safety is integrated into new product and process development from concept through validation and deployment.
Responsibilities- Partner with AME teams to identify hazards early and implement effective risk controls throughout the development lifecycle
- Design and implement safety systems including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work procedures
- Develop AME‑specific safety standards, risk assessment tools, and standard work to support scalable and compliant manufacturing processes
- Lead hazard identification efforts and coordinate corrective actions to ensure timely mitigation aligned with project milestones
- Deliver safety training focused on hazard recognition, design‑for‑safety principles, and proper safety control implementation
- Support regulatory compliance with applicable standards such as OSHA, NFPA 70E, and state environmental regulations
- Manage environmental considerations associated with AME activities, including waste management, solvent use, and prototype materials
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations partners to embed safety into product and process design decisions
- Maintain documentation and traceability of hazards, risk assessments, and corrective actions to support audit readiness
- Partner with Medtronic’s global EHS network to share best practices and continuously improve safety programs
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree with 0 years of relevant experience required
Nice to Have
- Internship, co‑op, academic project, or experience related to EHS, manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, or industrial environments
- Familiarity with hazard identification, risk assessments, or safety management systems
- Exposure to manufacturing, R&D, prototype development, or engineering environments
- Basic knowledge of safety standards such as OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, or lockout/tagout principles
- Interest in integrating safety into engineering design or product development processes
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Interest in continuous learning and professional growth in EHS or manufacturing safety
