Occupational Therapist – Danbury Hospital
Occupational Therapists provide services that identify, prevent, remediate, and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain with emphasis on upper extremity function, maximal independence in activities of daily living, and cognitive perceptual motor function. Clinical responsibilities may include treatment of pediatric, adult, and mature adult patients in inpatient, outpatient, and pediatric settings.
Responsibilities- Performs occupational therapy evaluations with technical skill and accuracy.
- Develops and implements treatment plans utilizing appropriate interventions, procedures, and equipment.
- Provides patient and family education and training.
- Participates in peer review and performance improvement activities.
- Documents clinical activity in accordance with department guidelines.
- Initiates discharge planning.
- Continuing education: attends 20 hours per year and provides two hours of in‑service education to staff annually.
- Provides full‑time clinical experience to students.
- Provides guidance to lower‑level staff and assists in orienting, teaching, and evaluating assistive personnel.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy.
Minimum Experience: One year of clinical experience.
Desired
Certifications:
Functional Independence Measure (FIM) certification and CPR certification.
Manual: significant manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity required.
Occupational:
Some occupational risk.
Physical Effort:
Very heavy effort; may require exertion of up to 50 lbs.
Physical Environment:
Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, and other environmental factors.
