Overview
Certified Surgical Technologist role at Nuvance Health (Danbury Hospital).
Full Time 36 hours per week:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 7:00am–7:30pm with variable shifts and assigned call shifts. Union role with pay based on full years of experience, from $66,400 to $93,000 per year plus shift differentials. $15,000 sign‑on bonus to qualified experience/certified Surg Techs.

SummaryTo perform scrub duties and assist in the nursing care of the surgical patient before, during and after the surgical procedure.
Responsibilities- Provides a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for the surgical patient.
- Applies knowledge of normal pathological anatomy and physiology and the actions of pharmacologic agents to individualize patient care.
- Applies principles of asepsis to provide optimum patient care, including respect for the patient’s privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Prepares and knows the specific uses of all equipment and supplies used for surgical procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of the step-by-step progress of specific surgical procedures and displays dexterity in the use of required instrumentation.
- Anticipates the needs of the surgeon to expedite the procedure, minimizing the patient’s exposure to surgical and anesthetic stress.
- Develops and improves skills in organization of work and assists the surgeon in learning to use economy in time, motion, and materials.
- Identifies emergency situations and uses judgment to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
- Completes a minimum of 10 hours of continuing education per year and maintains certification. Completes preceptor training and demonstrates the ability to perform one-on-one instruction for students and staff learning the scrub role.
- Participates in in servicing other staff relative to the surgical technologist role.
- Functions efficiently and professionally in all aspects of surgical care, recognizing the importance of teamwork, consideration, and cooperation.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Required:
Surgical Technologist Certification. - Minimum Experience:
