Registered Pulmonary Technologist

Overview

Registered Pulmonary Technologist 2 - PRN opportunity at Danbury Hospital, Nuvance Health.

Performs and is available to work across the WCHN Network testing and assisting in basic and advanced procedures in the pulmonary lab on patients who require services provided by the department.

• Performs pulmonary function tests utilizing the Sensor Medics system.
• Performs metabolic stress testing utilizing the Sensor Medics system.
• Assists the physician during bronchoscopy and thoracentesis; ensures samples procured during procedures are properly labeled and sent to the laboratory.
• Performs arterial blood Gas (ABG) puncture and analyzes the sample; ensures results are entered into the Cerner Laboratory Computer System.
• Performs and documents quality controls and calibrations on all equipment.
• Assists the physician during specialty bronchoscopy procedures, EBUS and Navigational.
• Attends mandatory services and department meetings per PEP standards.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  Associate s Degree in Respiratory Therapy (RRT or CPFT by NBRC). Must achieve RPFT within one year of hire.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum 3 years as Respiratory Therapist or Pulmonary Function Technologist.
• License/Certification: RRT or CPFT; RPFT within one year of hire.
• Desired:
  Experience performing pulmonary function tests.

• Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity
