Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of the treatment area, checking and maintaining stock and supplies in assigned areas.
- Prepare patients for exam: undress, position, adhere to monitoring devices, ensure appropriate supplies.
- Perform various tasks: vital signs, I&Os, EKGs, bladder scans, blood glucose, phlebotomy, sizing and use of durable medical equipment.
- Work within a variety of care settings in the ED, collaborating with RN and providers; act as integral team member in triage pods or other areas.
- Participate as active member in ED team caring for complex patients (trauma, cardiac arrest, etc.), including placing patients on monitors, fluid warmer setup.
- Perform hourly rounding and maintain regular communication with patients and family.
- Maintain ongoing communications with team members regarding patient status to proactively manage care and issues.
- Document task completion and patient care interactions.
- Transport patients to testing and in-patient units.
- Complete mandatory continuing education.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Current EMT, or Medical Assistant certification, or Nursing student, or 1 year prior ED experience.
- CPR certification required.
- Minimum experience:
one year. - Desired:
Phlebotomy, EKG training, direct patient care skills.
- $18,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified external Emergency Patient Care Techs.
- To qualify for sign‑on bonus, candidates must be from outside the Nuvance Health Network and have at least one full year recent PCT or E/PCT experience.
- Education:
HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT. - Credentials: EMT.
- Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination & finger dexterity.
- Occupational: significant occupational risk.
- Physical Effort: very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs. force.
- Physical Environment: significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
