Mechanic, Trades ​/ Skilled Labor

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment. Working fairly independently while under the general guidance of senior technicians, the role involves executing preventive maintenance, diagnosing faults with intermediate complexity, and contributing to process improvements. This position requires a foundational technical qualification and 2–4 years of direct mechanical experience.

• Assist in the installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment ranging from diesel driven dewatering pumps, Air compressors and diesel driven generators.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to carry out major repair works to diesel driven engines (Volvo, Dieselmax , Kubota) Fuel system repairs and replacement.
• Basic Hydraulic system repairs
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Ensure Safe working practices are carried out at all times in accordance to Health and Safety legislation (LOTO)
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
• Use various tools and equipment while maintaining a safe tidy workspace.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities
• Strict adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) policies and safety regulations is mandatory

• Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience working in a maintenance or technical role within a manufacturing, industrial, or similar setting.
• Any additional specialized certifications related to hydraulic, pneumatic, or welding operations
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment related to mechanical systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and resolve issues methodically.
• Familiarity with systems involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical controls is an advantage.
• Excellent communication and record-keeping abilities along with a commitment to safety standards.
• Exposure to noisy environments and mechanical hazards.
• Ability to work long hours
• Physical stamina for prolonged periods on foot and for lifting moderate to heavy equipment.
