Job Description:

Industrial Electrical Technician

Responsible for providing technical support to current customers. Able to troubleshoot a resolve basic service support challenge. Demonstrates the ability to work in a safety focused environment. Able to provide more technical service support: installation, calibration, and ongoing maintenance. Developing an understanding of business, products/services, & account needs. Assists with training customers.

The Industrial Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, instrumentation, and control equipment used in industrial facilities. The role ensures safe and reliable operation of machinery, power distribution, automation systems, and plant utilities.

Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, MCCs, VFDs, panels, generators, and transformers.
  • Diagnose electrical faults using multimeters, insulation testers, clamp meters, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Troubleshoot low-voltage and medium-voltage equipment (typically 24

    VDC–480AC or plant standard).
  • Repair or replace faulty components such as contractors, relays, circuit breakers, fuses, and sensors.
  • Install and calibrate sensors, transmitters (pressure, flow, level, temperature), and control valves.
  • Assist with PLC, SCADA, and automation system troubleshooting.
  • Support instrument loop checking, wiring verification, and commissioning activities.
  • Install cable trays, conduits, industrial wiring, and control panels.
  • Perform panel terminations according to drawings and standards.
  • Participate in plant electrical expansions, upgrades, and shutdown projects.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and control schematics.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, job sheets, and electrical logs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies (LOTO, arc flash, PPE) and international electrical standards (IEC/NEC).
  • Follow all electrical safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.
  • Report hazards, unsafe equipment, and near misses.
  • Ensure work is performed with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and proper isolation.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation, sensors, and communication protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with VFDs, soft starters, and motor control circuits.
  • Good communication and teamwork.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and during plant shutdowns.
  • Industrial plant environment with noise, heat, and rotating equipment.
  • May require overtime, shift work, or on-call rotation.
  • Must use PPE and follow strict safety protocols.
  • Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electricity, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience as an industrial electrician/technician in manufacturing, industrial plants, utilities, or oil & gas.
  • Experience with VFDs, control panels, PLC interfaces, and instrumentation is a strong advantage.
