A Nurse Laser Technician is a licensed registered nurse who specializes in supporting and performing laser-assisted medical and aesthetic procedures under the direction of dermatologists, plastic surgeons, or medical teams. The role blends clinical nursing care with technical expertise in laser systems, patient preparation, treatment guidance, and post-procedure follow-up.
Primary ResponsibilitiesClinical & Patient CareConduct patient assessments and gather relevant medical history before laser procedures.
Educate patients on procedure expectations, pre-treatment instructions, and aftercare protocols.
Prepare patients physically and emotionally for laser treatments, ensuring comfort and understanding.
Monitor vital signs and patient status throughout procedures and intervene appropriately.
Provide post-procedure nursing care, including wound care, pain management, and follow-up guidance.
Maintain accurate and complete clinical documentation of procedures, outcomes, and follow-up plans.
Laser Procedure SupportAssist dermatologists or physicians during laser protocols (e.g., hair removal, skin resurfacing, pigmentation treatments).
Set up, calibrate, and verify laser equipment settings in conformity with treatment plans.
Implement strict infection control, safety, and sterilization procedures for equipment and clinical space.
Monitor equipment performance parameters and report malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
Equipment Maintenance & SafetyAdhere to laser safety standards and best practices to protect patients and clinical staff.
Perform routine checks and cleaning of laser devices, escalating technical issues as necessary.
Track equipment usage logs, service records, and safety compliance documentation.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, clinic managers, and administrative staff.
Ensure patient confidentiality and data protection in accordance with Saudi healthcare regulations.
Maintain a high level of professional practice aligned with Saudi Council (SCFHS) and Ministry of Health requirements.
Qualifications & SkillsEducationBachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent Diploma (Nursing or laser technology).
Additional training or certification in laser treatments, dermatologic procedures, or aesthetic therapy is highly desirable.
Licensing & CertificationsRegistered Nurse license (SCFHS) valid for practice in Saudi Arabia.
Certificate or training in laser safety and specific laser modalities is often required.
ExperienceMinimum of 2–5 years clinical experience as a nurse with at least some exposure to dermatology, cosmetic, or laser treatment settings preferred.
Demonstrated comfort with patient interaction, treatment planning, and technical device operation.
Technical & Interpersonal SkillsProficient in laser systems operation and understanding of skin anatomy and laser physics.
Strong communication skills for patient counseling and team collaboration.
Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and safety compliance practices.
Working ConditionsWork typically takes place in dermatology clinics, aesthetic centers, medical spas, or hospital outpatient departments.
May require standing for prolonged procedures, use of protective equipment, and adherence to clinical safety protocols.
Occupational exposure to lasers and treated areas requires strict adherence to safety goggles/shields and laser safety standards.
