Role

Purpose:

The Chemical Storekeeper is responsible for the safe storage, handling, and control of chemical materials within the warehouse. The role ensures compliance with safety regulations, accurate inventory management, shelf‑life monitoring, and proper documentation for all inbound and outbound chemical materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive chemical materials and verify quantities, quality, and documentation against approved purchase orders.
  • Ensure proper storage of chemicals in accordance with SDS / MSDS, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Classify and segregate chemicals based on hazard type (flammable, corrosive, toxic, etc.).
  • Arrange chemicals on shelves to ensure safety, accessibility, and prevention of contamination or chemical reactions.
  • Monitor product shelf life and expiration dates, applying FIFO / FEFO principles.
  • Perform periodic stock counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Identify, label, and report expired, damaged, or leaking materials immediately.
  • Prepare and issue chemicals to production or dispatch according to approved requests.
  • Prepare and maintain warehouse documentation including:
    Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), Issue Vouchers, Delivery Notes, Invoices.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the chemical warehouse at all times.
  • Coordinate with Production, Procurement, Quality, and Logistics departments as required.
  • Take full accountability for the chemical warehouse as a standalone role.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of chemical storage and handling procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand SDS / MSDS documentation.
  • Inventory management and stock control skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems (preferred).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance.
