Overview

Phlebotomist Group Lead - Daly City CA, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Pay range: $31.10 - $37.10 / hour

Responsibilities
  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems or directory of services.
  • Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration, test order entry from requisition or pulling order from database, and managing Standing Orders.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required, including safeguarding of assets and credit card information.
  • Data entry and processing of specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required by test order.
  • Perform departmental-related clerical duties when assigned such as data entry, inventory, stock supplies, and answering phones when needed.
  • Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures and ensure all staff follow instructions.
  • Verify patient demographic information/initials including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes are labeled correctly.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner (e.g., maintenance logs and temperature logs).
  • Complete training courses and stay up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off-site or off normal shift.
  • Participate in special projects and teams.
  • Stay up-to-date on company communications and assist with the distribution of technical information to the work group.
  • Perform Point of Care (POC) testing at sites where needed and complete training/competency evaluations per SOP.
  • With appropriate training, act as mentor and resource for new employees and assist with onboarding for new clients.
  • Act as a point of contact to staff in the region and provide regular input to the Supervisor or Functional Patient Service Manager.
  • Lead on-site as a coach/mentor and resource adviser for new employees as needed, and assist with transition into PSC/IOP environments.
  • Provide effective onboarding services to new clients and partner with Supervisor for setting up new offices for PSCs and IOPs.
  • May be required to step in for PSR III and lead one or more PSRs on site.
  • Support patient inquiries from various channels as needed and assist with problem resolution as required.
  • Provide input on the performance evaluations of PSRs.
Qualifications

Required

Work Experience:

  • Seven years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
  • Travel and flexible hours required to work multiple locations and cover various phlebotomy sites with minimal notice.

Preferred

Work Experience:

  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred.
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Lift 1 to 40 pounds as needed; some objects may require assistance for heavier lifts.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods; good eye-hand coordination.
  • Repetitive tasks with dominant hand; long periods of phone and PC use.
  • Travel required; extensive walking and standing may be involved.
  • Fine dexterity, talking, walking, balancing, bending/kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching/twisting.
