Summary

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is seeking an Enforcement and Removal Assistant to perform a variety of duties related to detainee management.

Organizational Location

These positions are located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), in multiple locations specified in this announcement.

Salary

The salary range indicated in this announcement will be adjusted to include locality payment for selected duty location. General Schedule locality pay tables may be found under Salaries & Wages.

Duties
  • Research detainee history using multiple sources to establish identity/citizenship and manage detained and non-detained dockets.
  • Provide administrative support to managers, supervisors, or staff members by assisting in the day‑to‑day management of the office’s activities.
  • Summarize and tabulate detainee information from various reports and utilize a variety of databases and automated systems.
  • Generate and verify detainee reports, encounters, charging documents, studies, data quality, and create and revise spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and presentations.
  • Exercise quality control over bond paperwork.
Requirements

  • You must successfully pass a background investigation, which may include a credit check and review of financial, criminal, and drug‑use or possession issues.
  • Selective Service:

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications For GS‑05

Specialized

Experience:

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑04 level, including:

  • Performing recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Compiling, maintaining, and updating automated records.
  • Responding to requests for procedural information.
Education Substitution

You must have successfully completed four years of post‑high‑school education in any field where high school graduation is the normal prerequisite.

Combination Of Education And Experience

Appropriate combination of post‑high‑school education and experience to meet the total qualification requirements for the GS‑05 grade level.

Minimum Qualifications For GS‑06

Specialized

Experience:

You must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑05 level, including:

  • Processing individuals arrested or detained by law enforcement officials.
  • Performing file searches and assembling documentation.
  • Responding to routine requests and issues related to legal or law enforcement policies, practices, and procedures.
Typing Requirement

Show possession of the ability to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5‑minute sample, with three or fewer errors.
