Process Engineer
Location: Dalton, GA
Reports to: Process General Manager
Classification: Salary (Exempt)
Overview
The Process Engineer will provide direction, guidance, and support to all shift and day Process Technicians. He/she will apply continuous improvement methodology to enhance plant operations, supporting the specific plant goals in operational effectiveness (OE), job effectiveness (JE), safety and quality. The role includes stabilizing production processes, managing key process parameters, and supporting defect reduction activities in cooperation with production and quality teams.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement methods for sampling, inspection, testing, and evaluation of products.
- Initiate process improvement projects to increase efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality and defect analysis.
- Execute required duties while practicing safe work methods and adhering to all plant safety rules.
- Drive investigation, proposal, procurement and launch of new process and operations improvements (flexible automation and manual equipment) through metrics and audits.
- Assist development of technical training plan for process engineering and continuous improvement methodology (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.).
- Develop troubleshooting guides for maintenance and operations personnel for line use and train/implement them in the plant.
- Participate with the EHS team to lead projects that improve worker safety and minimize incident risk.
- Act as a change agent to systematically drive and implement change through cross‑functional efforts among safety, manufacturing, and quality resources.
- Develop engineering documentation: PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions, etc.
- Maintain regular reports to track progress and drive action on plant improvements.
- Support skill‑up of engineer level with mentoring and qualification development.
- Monitor and control key process parameters to ensure process stability and minimize variation.
- Standardize work instructions and maintain updated process documentation with Production.
- Plan and execute team’s tasks.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of Hanwha Q CELLS USA, Inc.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical approach.
- Proven technical acumen.
- Ability to filter “Big Data” and interpret for data‑driven decision making.
- Leadership experience managing projects and groups.
- Experience with process management in manufacturing processes.
- Management or running experience in a manufacturing site.
- Extensive experience implementing new programs and data systems.
- Ability to utilize abstract reasoning techniques to build reporting logic and establish creative solutions to new problems.
- Ability to learn various software applications required for quality and performance reporting and analysis.
- Ability to work with ambiguous data sets and navigate solutions using people skills and intuition.
- Ability to stand and walk the production area throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds without restriction.
- Reaching, pushing, pulling, or lifting as required within limits set by Q Cells.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
