Location:

Augusta University, Augusta, GA. Regular, Full-Time. Job . The Department of Neurology in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is actively seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, as a board certified/board eligible full-time Neurology physician to join our faculty. Devotion to excellence in clinical care and teaching will promote the professional goals of the faculty member and needs of patients.

This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

• Patient Care/Service:
  • Pursuing the faculty member's passion as related to our clinical, research, and educational missions.
  • Provide high-quality, comprehensive care in neurology movement disorders in an effort to improve quality, safety and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in assigned clinical duties:
    Evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with movement disorders in the outpatient clinic.
  • Meet all metrics associated with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE). This includes, but is not limited to: attendance at quality meetings, proper management of documentation, completion of all online compliance training modules, attendance at faculty meetings, etc.
  • Meet and maintain productivity targets as set forth by the department chair and MCG Dean's Office through clinical services provided.
  • Promote good professional relationships and build referral patterns with Augusta University physicians and physicians outside of Augusta University (referring physicians in community, region and state).
  • Provide prompt feedback to referring physicians.
• Teaching/Instruction:
  • Provide education and training to residents, medical students and staff which includes but is not limited to: clinical supervision, consultation and didactics.
  • Achieve and maintain teaching evaluation scores at or above the department mean.
  • Attend 50% or more weekly neurology Grand Rounds presentations and monthly faculty meetings.

• MD/DO or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Must have or be able to obtain a medical license in the state of Georgia, obtain a federal DEA, and be CPR certified. Board eligible or certified in Neurology. Completion of Applicable Fellowship. Successful candidates will have a proven history of excellent clinical skills, involvement with clinical research, and strong desire to be involved with resident teaching.
• Assistant Professor – Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
• Associate Professor – Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
• Professor – Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

• Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
• Evidence of ability as a teacher;
• Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
• Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
• Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Expertise in clinical evaluation of movement disorders.

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, and subject to the availability of funds, with variations by rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor).
