Summary:
**** Manages the daily activities of the Bus Dispatch Control Center section relative to real time oversight and coordination and monitoring of the activities in center, performing a variety of administrative duties, and supporting the efficient operations of bus services in the field.

* ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*** Manages and coordinates the daily activities of the Bus Dispatch Control Center's operation. Manages programs, projects and assignments affecting operation in accordance with Bus Dispatch Control Center objectives, goals and procedures.
* Interviews, develops, trains, evaluates, counsels, recommends the hiring or other personnel actions for subordinate personnel,
* Coordinates rail service interruptions thorough the implementation of bus bridges directing field supervisors to strategic locations and bus operators to designated routes.
* Reviews daily operations reports generated by Dispatchers. Generates timely, accurate and detailed reporting of all incidents affecting and/or to DART vehicles and property as reported to the Bus Dispatch Control Center.
* Provides communication link to executive level when problems are identified that cause performance deviations, determining and directing courses of action to correct problems.
* Enlists division level supervisors to protect service caused by variances in manpower or equipment.
* Provides customer service to other departments within DART.
* Daily Review of Incident Reports. It is essential to conduct a thorough daily examination of the Bus Controller’s Incident Reports. This practice ensures that all reports are complete, officially closed, and contributes to maintaining accurate records and accountability
* Ensuring Smooth Cancellations and Modifications. We must manage cancellations and modifications to bus blocks with precision and care. By processing these changes swiftly and formally closing them in our system, we not only eliminate potential confusion but also uphold the reliability and integrity of our service schedules. This attentive approach solidifies our commitment to providing seamless transportation experiences for all.
* Assists the Senior Manager in the development and administration of program policies, goals and objectives. Recommends and develops plans to enhance the overall operation of the Bus Dispatch Control Center.
* Develops training, budget, and manpower needs with daily and weekly staffing schedules.
* Support the restoration of bus service by implementing SPB buses and enhancing routes with additional service blocks for better coverage and frequency. This initiative aims to improve access to public transportation, ensuring that commuters have reliable and efficient options throughout the area. By adding more service blocks, we can reduce wait times and accommodate the transportation needs of a growing population.
* Management of Detours. We must remain vigilant for new or temporary detours and promptly record each one in the Detour Excel spreadsheet. Once temporary detours are no longer in effect, they should be marked as closed to keep our records current. This attention to detail is essential for effective navigation and management.

An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.
* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources , or other technical fields.
* Three (3) years of dispatching or related experience to include two (2) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
* Applicants/employees must pass and maintain a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). (medical) examination including pre-employment drug test and must submit to Federal Transportation Administration-required random drug/alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment.
* Ability to use and direct appropriate protocols when communicating via radio.
