A global international freight forwarding and logistics organization is expanding its U.S. customs brokerage operations in Dallas and is seeking an experienced Customs Entry Writer to support high-volume import clearance activity across air and ocean freight.
This role sits within a fully integrated freight forwarding operation and requires a customs professional who understands the operational pace of international logistics. The successful candidate will manage end-to-end import entry preparation, tariff classification, and regulatory compliance while working closely with importers, carriers, operations teams, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The position is responsible for ensuring that all shipments entering the United States are processed accurately, compliantly, and within regulatory timelines
, supporting efficient cargo movement through the Dallas gateway.
- Prepare and transmit U.S. Customs entries for air and ocean import shipments
. - Conduct Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) classifications and validate duty rates and admissibility requirements.
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and supporting documentation to ensure regulatory accuracy prior to entry submission.
- Manage the full entry lifecycle including entry preparation, submission, cargo release, and post-entry follow up
. - Communicate directly with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regarding holds, document requests, and release issues.
- Coordinate cargo examinations including VACIS, Agriculture, CET, and Intensive inspections
. - Work closely with freight forwarding operations teams to ensure seamless coordination between transport, documentation, and customs clearance
. - Maintain compliance records in accordance with CBP reasonable care standards and audit requirements

- 3–7+ years of U.S. customs brokerage experience within a freight forwarding environment
. - Direct experience processing air and ocean import entries
. - Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR) and tariff classification principles.
- Experience working with Cargo Wise One customs module or equivalent brokerage systems
. - Demonstrated experience with PGA filings and regulatory documentation
. - Ability to review and interpret complex commercial documentation and resolve compliance issues efficiently.
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred.
- Experience working within international freight forwarding operations rather than stand-alone brokerage firms.
- Exposure to high-volume import environments and complex commodity classifications
