Overview

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, established in 1885, consists of 17 branches and a destination camp - all dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected, and secure children, adults, families and communities. We are currently seeking an Aquatics Director to oversee the planning and operations of the aquatics department at our Semones YMCA, including staff supervision, program development, budget management, and planning.

Responsibilities
  • Supervision and administration of all aquatic programs for the Semones YMCA, including swim lessons, swim team (youth and masters), aquatic certification classes, and lap/recreational swim, pool rentals.
  • Supervise three on-site pools, a sprayground, and two whirlpools.
  • Supervise a Full Time Associate Aquatics Director.
  • Plan and administer approved budgets, staff the programs, assist with the annual Scholarship Campaign, and maintain pool equipment.
  • Direct and manage all aquatic programs, complying with all Association standards and safety procedures.
  • Develop programs and ensure program quality.
  • Hire, train and supervise staff and volunteers for all aquatic programs.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor aquatic department budgets; assess and recommend budgeting for facility and equipment needs.
  • Provide leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign, and other volunteer committees as assigned.
  • Develop, produce and disseminate appropriate program information to promote aquatic programs to the public and to current members.
  • Ensure that program areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of progressive supervisory experience in an aquatic program, including program development and budget management.
  • Ability to train swim instructors, swim coaches, instructors and lifeguards.
  • Excellent skills in communication, customer service, and organizational management.
  • Certification requirements (YMCA Swim Lessons V6, YMCA Lifeguard, YMCA Lifeguard Instructor, CPO and ASHI BLS) or ability to complete all required training within the first 60 days of employment;
    Preferred Trainer Level Certified in YMCA Swim Lessons V6.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
