AVP, API Engagement Engineer – Synchrony
Advocate the Application & Service development teams across the organization, managing multiple teams actively working vide best practices for REST API development, solutions for complex multi‑service application implementations, and design and review API specifications for REST best practices.
Essential Responsibilities- Teach teams to utilize Synchrony’s new suite of API development tools
- Provide architectural guidance for API & Application development across Synchrony, helping teams leverage the API Gateway and promote best practices for Microservice/SOA development
- Serve as source of knowledge for RESTful API development
- Learn Synchrony’s domains and assist teams in promoting APIs to Enterprise & Productize levels for wide market consumption
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 3–5 years of Modern Application Development experience, or 5–7 years in lieu of degree
- 3+ years API development using Apigee (preferred) or similar API Gateway product
- Strong technical expertise in Java Spring, Node.js, REST, SOAP, Swagger Hub (JSON/YAML)
- Experience with Agile development, JIRA, Bitbucket, continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
- Strong communication skills with technical and non‑technical peers
- Cross‑functional team collaboration in a matrix organization
- Attention to detail, analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, action plans, impacts and resolution options
- Passion to learn diverse business domains and technologies and quick learning of new techs/frameworks
- Excellent communication with both technical and business stakeholders
- Architectural knowledge of application development in a Microservice environment
- Dev Ops Process Fundamentals
- Advocate for technology best practices
- Working knowledge of the Financial Industry and Consumer Lending
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be willing to take a drug test, background investigation and fingerprinting as part of onboarding
- Must satisfy Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act
- New hires must meet service time requirements before posting on other roles
Salary range: – USD annually. Eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Salaries are adjusted for market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
