.ALCOHOL MONITORING TECHNICIAN.PRETRIAL RELEASE Job Description
The purpose of this position is to monitor clients placed on a court ordered alcohol monitoring program and out on bond. This is accomplished by screening, interviewing, monitoring, and supervising defendants out on bond and placed in the monitoring program by the courts; monitoring and documenting the defendants’ activities through monitoring reports; utilization of employment verification; maintaining regular contact with defendants;
and ensuring that all conditions of release are met.
- Maintains regular contact with clients released on bond and placed on alcohol monitored supervision and refers these clients to appropriate services as indicated and/or required by conditions of release.
- Processes monitoring documents for eligible clients and maintains case file on each defendant/client by documenting chronological record of the defendant’s activities.
- Maintains an open line of communication with the courts in reference to the adherence to the program, and submits in a timely manner, necessary court documents, reference amendments, violations, and discharges/terminations.
- Prepares reports on compliance with release conditions for Court consideration and refers clients to appropriate services as indicated and/or required by conditions of release.
- Engages and monitors status of monitoring devices as applicable (for example, interlock and home monitoring).
- Coordinates and interfaces with other County departments such as County Criminal Courts, Judicial District Courts, County Clerk, District Clerk, and Public Defender to ensure that enrollment in the program occur in a timely manner.
- Interfaces with existing diversion programs and community providers as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Criminology, Sociology, Business Management, Public Administration, or in a job related field of study.
Special Requirements /Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver’s license, with a good driving record. Must pass an extensive background investigation. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.
Physical/EnvironmentalRequirements:
May be required to visit defendants/clients inside a secured facility with potential exposure to hepatitis, tuberculosis, other diseases, and lice.
