We’re hiring an Electrical Technician II – Battery to support UPS and DC battery systems in mission‑critical environments. This is a hands‑on, field‑based role focused on battery installations, replacements, preventive maintenance, and testing, with strong exposure to electrical safety practices and critical power infrastructure.
This position is ideal for an electrical or field service technician looking to grow deeper into critical facilities, UPS, and DC battery systems.
What You’ll Do- Assist with battery replacements and new installations tied to UPS systems
- Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance with minimal customer disruption
- Support startups, certifications, and maintenance activities on DC battery systems
- Work from schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions
- Safely disconnect/connect sealed batteries in cabinets and open racks
- Build flooded cell battery racks and spill containment systems
- Install flooded cell batteries in customer critical spaces
- Capture pre‑installation and PM test data using a laptop‑based reporting system
- Use electrical test equipment including digital multimeters, amp clamps, and flexible CTs
- Follow all MOPs
, safety rules, and critical facility work practices - Maintain clean, organized job sites during installs and maintenance
- Assist other service groups as needed (Switchgear, Operations, HVAC, etc.)
- Support warehouse activities when required
- Travel approximately 75% or more to customer sites
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Up to 75% Travel (required)
- Ability to safely operate tools and department equipment
- Basic fix/repair skills under directed supervision
- Working knowledge of—or strong ability to learn—
AC/DC theory, electronics, and circuitry - Willingness to travel extensively and work in active critical environments
- Use of digital multimeter for AC/DC diagnostics
- Use of amp clamp and flexible CTs
- Familiarity with Alber Cellcorder (or ability to learn)
- Understanding of:
Isolation devices and voltage control,
Arc‑flash PPE and electrical safety procedures, Series, parallel, and series‑parallel battery strings, Torque values, torque marking, and visual inspections
- NFPA‑70E Electrical Safety Training
- Ability to obtain security clearance (preferred)
